Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

Lauren Wier is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (MN #19860) and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of St Thomas. She received a Bachelor of Social Work from Creighton University. A passion for working with children first drew Lauren to the mental health field. She’s worked with youth and families in the foster care system, day treatment settings, and supported women and couples in crisis for many years.

In her private practice, Lauren found clarity about her calling to help children who struggle; she found that the single best way to help a child was to support their parents. She developed a specialty in assisting parents of children struggling with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, aggression and identity related concerns. After several years in private practice, Lauren took time to be home full-time with her three young children. She returns to work with a deepened appreciation for the joys and sorrows of motherhood and a profound sense of purpose in her call to accompany other moms in their struggles.

Lauren has advanced training in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Her clinical interests also include treating anxiety, depression, trauma, childhood emotional neglect, infertility and recurrent miscarriage, adoption related concerns, relationship difficulties, special needs parenting, highly sensitive persons, and those struggling to find meaning and purpose.

Tailoring her therapeutic approach to the unique needs of each client, Lauren’s work is informed first and foremost by a Catholic understanding of the human person as being created to love and be loved. Drawing from her extensive knowledge in attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, and cognitive behavioral theory, Lauren supports clients in identifying the root causes of their struggles. Gentle and kind, yet unafraid of asking tough questions, Lauren will support you in deepening your understanding of your unique strengths and weaknesses. With fresh perspective, new tools and the peace that comes from being truly heard, life long struggles can become, not only manageable, but wellsprings of strength.

When she’s not working, Lauren enjoys time with her husband and three daughters. They’re currently learning how to garden and enjoying getting messy in the new backyard mud kitchen.
