  • Clients meet with therapists on a weekly basis at the same day and time (e.g., 9am on Wednesdays each week) during the intake and active phases of therapy. Intake involves gathering the person's history and is usually 3-4 sessions; the active phase is focused on pursuing the goals that have been identified. How long the active phase takes depends on what the presenting problem is and how engaged the clients are in doing homework and practicing their new skills and tools outside of therapy. When clients have made changes that move them toward their goals, and they are ready to transition toward maintenance, then we space out sessions over several weeks as they near finishing their therapeutic work.

  • The cost of each session varies with the clinicians’ level of training and experience from $50-160. The session cost is listed toward the bottom of each therapist’s webpage.

  • If you have a particular therapist in mind, you can inquire about their availability on their personal webpage; their email, phone number, and a contact button are provided. Or you can submit a general inquiry HERE and we will assist you in getting connected with a therapist.

  • Clinicians are in network with a variety of insurance payers including Aetna, Medica, MinnesotaCare/Medical Assistance, Optum, PreferredOne, UCare, UnitedHealthcare, & UMR. Please see each therapist’s page for more information about in network benefits. The Martin Center for Integration can also provide a SuperBill to clients who want to submit their sessions toward their out of network deductible.

Please note that when utilizing insurance, all clinicians bill at a rate of $200 for intake appointment, $160 for subsequent sessions. There is not a sliding fee or reduced fee option when accessing insurance benefits.

  • Therapy is absolutely an investment of time, energy and money. We believe it can be motivating to feel the financial reality of spending money on therapy. We also believe that quality, faith-focused therapy should be available to all within the community. To that end, all of our therapists offer an income-adjusted sliding fee scale to help make weekly therapy more affordable. Please inquire with your therapist for more information on reduced fee sessions.

Another consideration is meeting with a clinical intern, whose fee is lower to reflect their training and experience. These interns were selected by the Martin Center for Integration due to their superior understanding of psychological principles as well as their ability to integrate the truths of the human person as revealed in Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church. All interns are supervised by Kenna Millea, LMFT, and receive regular feedback. They also carry smaller caseloads, ensuring greater attentiveness and focus on their client’s case.

FAQs

  • At this time our clinicians are licensed to practice in the state of Minnesota only. While we have some connections outside of Minnesota, and are happy to provide those referrals, a more fruitful search may be found on catholictherapists.com or on PsychologyToday.com, selecting “Christian” in the filters.

  • All of our clinicians offer telehealth appointments, which allows us to serve the homebound, those outside of the Twin Cities metro area, and immunocompromised clients. In certain situations, your therapist may encourage you to attend sessions in person for a time due to the type of therapy or the subject being addressed in session. Due to licensing requirements, clients must be physical located within the state of Minnesota at the time of each therapy session.

  • The first few sessions of therapy are a mutual discernment process. Your therapist will strive to understand your story, your symptoms and your goals by asking questions about your family of origin, your current lifestyle and habits, your hopes and desires. You, as the client, will also be seeking to determine if this therapist is a solid fit for you: Do you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with this therapist? Do you find their questions thought-provoking? These first sessions are a great time to ask questions of your therapist. If something feels unsettling about the arrangement, you are encouraged to let your therapist know and ask for a referral to another provider. Our mission is to serve you—even if it means that someone else provides your care.

  • All therapists see clients in person at St. Helena Church in South Minneapolis, MN. See maps below. ⬇️

  • In order to submit claims to insurance, a DSM-5 diagnosis must be provided by your clinician. In the event that you are not utilizing insurance (paying out of pocket, couples therapy, etc.), a DSM-5 diagnosis is not necessary and may not be applicable. Either way, your clinician will speak with you about how they are understanding your symptoms and what is required in order to ethically and comprehensively provide care.
